昨年はお世話になりました。
本年もどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。
日本語教授法研究会は2023年も月1回（年10回）のペースで開催いたします。
皆さんのご支援、ご協力のおかげで、今年も継続して開催することができます。
ありがとうございます。
日本語教授法研究会では、授業で使える実践的なテクニックや日本語文法の基礎、より効果的な教授法などについて、皆さんと一緒に勉強していきます。
日本語教授法研究会は月に1回(年10回)開催いたします。
普段何気なく話している日本語の中にも、たくさんの不思議が混在していますよね。
毎回異なるテーマについて、じっくり考えていきたいと思います。
基本内容は、60分講義と30分の意見交換及び交流会です。
また、これから日本語の先生になりたい！日本語を教えてみたい！デモレッスンでも使える実践的なアドバイスがほしい！という皆さんにもAsao Language Schoolの雰囲気、基礎的な文法の教え方、クラスですぐに使える日本語学習方法などを一緒に勉強していただける絶好の機会になると思います。
もしよろしければご検討ください。

毎月1回 金曜日（20:00~21:30）/土曜日(10:00~11:30)
90分（講義+意見交換会）
どちらかご都合のいい日程にご参加いただけます。

TODAY'S LESSON TIPS from Masa @asaolanguage
Hi everyone,
How's it going?
As I mentioned before, when required, verb is usually placed at the end of the sentence where it determines the tense and register of the sentence.
If you use masu form, the sentence sounds proper and respectful, therefore, considering the seniority based on age in Japanese culture, it is a safer and more practical choice.
If you use dictionary form, on the other hand, the sentence sounds as if you are presenting facts alone to the public. Doing so, you should either intonate the entire sentence to balance the register or add suffix such as ね and よ right after the verb in order to make the sentence sound directed to the second person.
(Not all Japanese sentences contain verbs. When the feature of the predicate of the sentence is either noun or adjective, verb is not grammatically necessary so it is not used but the sentence is grammatically correct. E.g. 私は名前がMasaです。and 今日は寒いです。are grammatically correct and complete sentences but they have no verbs. )
(In the teaching terminology, です is technically an auxiliary verb, which is not a straight up verb that you expect. For European language speakers, please be reminded that です is not equivalent to to be.)
Sometimes, you find a verb in the middle of the sentence. That is when the verb is used either to modify a noun or placed towards or at the end of the clause to set a condition.
Again, such as Genki series treats dictionary form as infinitive form and they call Group 1 verbs U Verbs and Group 2 verbs RU Verbs so please watch out :)

Hope everyone is doing great, and we wish you all have a wonderful year 😄
Today, we would like to make an announcement regarding the price change for the Second Craic lessons.
From March 1, 2023 the membership fee for the Second Craic will go up from €8.75/lesson to €10.75/lesson.
(For Second Craic Semi, it will change to €12/lesson.)
When we started this service, we wanted to set the price as minimum as possible so many learners could join us.
Thus, we didn’t take into the account of Patreon’s service fees which is 19% in total…
We are happy to have been covering the cost, but honestly speaking, we can no longer afford doing so. we need to make the change to get as close as the break even point at this stage.
This is just an advance notice and we will announce you again before we actually change the membership fee in March 2023. Thank you for your understanding.

中国語を基礎から勉強する方を対象とした1回50分×1セット全6回のオンライングループレッスンです。拼音（注音）や発音発声方法の基礎を反復しながら、繁体字のテキストに沿って、基礎文法と簡単な会話をじっくり学習します。実際に発音してもらいながら、正しい通じる台湾中国語を学んでいきます。
また、台湾の文化や台湾の日常などについて紹介したり、共有したりもしています。和気藹々とした少人数グループレッスンですので、お気軽にご参加下さい。

We have come across an exception おきます (to happen) this time.
Following the logic we have gone through, the verb おきます should belong to Group 1 as the final vowel sound is い before ます. Therefore, おきます in masu form should become おく in dictionary form.
However, it somehow belongs to Group 2...Therefore, おきます in masu form becomes おきる in dictionary form.
Although such exceptions are rare, unfortunately, some of them are often used in our daily conversations.
The exceptions at JLPT N4 level are such as the following:
おきます (to happen)
かります (to borrow and rent)
あびます (to be poured from above)
おります (to get off and get out of)
たります (to become enough)
すぎます (to pass)
おちます (to drop)
そんじます (to know)
By the way, if you learn verbs in dictionary form first, you can avoid such exceptions. By looking at verbs in dictionary form negative (also know as ない form), you can distinguish more accurately and that is why books such as Genki series introduce dictionary form first.
Is masu form first or dictionary form first?
It's a chicken and egg debate among Japanese teachers :)
